I am seriously loving Something from Almost Nothing! There is something about using the 6x12 format and pulling out old supplies that makes me want to play. It has been so much fun trying new techniques...
Like folding and sewing ribbon onto layouts! I just finished up my layout for the third prompt of class, which was to use up some of our ribbon stash in new ways.
For this prompt, rather than fold the ribbon perfectly, I decided to just scrunch it up here and there. Then I used my sewing machine to run a straight stitch down the center, as well as stitched on a bit of pom pom ribbon. I was honestly very surprised by how well my cheapo sewing machine handled this challenge. It sewed through 4 pieces of patterned paper, the photo, and the folded ribbon, without any issues at all. Gotta play more with my sewing machine!
I decided to add in metals, too. Still loving the eyelets and I pulled out my old Memory Makers tag maker, too. That thing hasn't seen the light in at least a year - lol!
Lastly, I just have to say a huge thank you!! I was very surprised and delighted to open yesterday's class prompt, to find that my layouts had been featured. I love the atmosphere of inspiration and support in Shimelle's classes; I've seen so many wonderful ideas from my classmates and am humbled that Shimelle selected my work. Many thanks to Shimelle and to all you for your comments and congrats.
We are off to spend some time with family this weekend. And hopefully I'll get a chance to sneak in more scrapping time. Have a lovely weekend!
